Summary
AI/ML engineer with 3+ years building production software. I build LLM features, retrieval systems and ML models, and the backend services they run on. At Ally Financial I added an LLM to a real-time fraud risk pipeline, with guardrails and validation that meet banking audit requirements. In my own projects I build systems I can measure, like Ask the Filings, which answers questions about SEC 10-K filings and refuses when the filings don’t hold the answer, and pytest-triage, which suggests labels for pytest’s GitHub issues and is scored against the maintainers’ own labels.
Experience
Software Developer, Ally Financial
Jul 2025 to present · Remote, USA
- Integrated an LLM into a real-time transaction risk scoring pipeline to write anomaly narratives for analysts. Defined prompt guardrails and validation layers with the AI and compliance teams so the output met banking audit requirements.
- Owned the core scoring services (Python, streaming and caching) of a real-time fraud detection platform built from the ground up. The platform cut fraud losses by 18% in its first quarter.
- Built risk evaluation and alerting APIs and cut average response time from 340 ms to 265 ms by reworking query plans and adding connection pooling.
- Built a live fraud analytics dashboard in React and TypeScript that replaced manually maintained spreadsheet reports and cut average investigation time by about 21%.
- Set up CI/CD with containerized deployments, structured logging and metrics dashboards so on-call engineers find issues in minutes instead of hours.
- Owned service authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT) for compliance requirements. Wrote 85+ automated tests that run on every pull request, above 90% coverage on critical paths.
Graduate Teaching Assistant, University of Massachusetts Boston
Sep 2024 to May 2025 · Boston, MA
- Led 8 lab cohorts (90+ students) through circuit analysis and MATLAB simulations.
- Gave feedback on 70+ lab reports, each within 24 hours.
- Mentored student pairs on debugging and problem solving.
Software Engineer, Tata Consultancy Services
Aug 2022 to Aug 2023 · Gurgaon, India
- Led a zero-downtime migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL for a 20 GB production database. Refactored 15,000 lines of SQL and application code, re-indexed critical queries, saved $45K a year in licensing and cut page load times by 4 seconds.
- Shipped seven features to a core banking platform in Java and Spring Boot processing 50K+ daily transactions. Wrote 120+ JUnit tests and owned the Jenkins pipeline, cutting the defect rate by 40% versus the prior release cycle.
- Managed a 6-person Tier-2 support team for multinational banking clients. A structured triage process raised SLA compliance to 90% of tickets resolved within 24 hours, up from about 65%.
- Wrote Bash and cron scripts that automated nightly reporting for three teams, saving about 5 hours a week and catching production anomalies faster through alerts.
Software Development Engineer Intern, NTT Data
Jan 2021 to Jul 2022 · Remote, India
- Built Angular and TypeScript components and Spring Boot APIs for an enterprise application. Used Kafka in an order processing service handling 2K+ transactions a day.
- Added authentication and role-based access control with Spring Security, OAuth 2.0 and JWT. Fixed input validation gaps from a security audit, with zero auth-related incidents after release.
- Added JUnit and Mockito test stages and SonarQube quality gates in GitHub Actions, helping the team move from biweekly to weekly releases with fewer rollbacks.
- Wrote and documented REST APIs for three client-facing modules and onboarded two new teammates.
